I saw a lot of wonderful Earth Day and Earth Month posts but the message that resonated the most with me was a reminder that humanity’s everyday choices have direct impacts on the planet. Today, as Earth Month concludes, I encourage you to take a moment to expand your awareness by thinking about the long-term impacts of your decisions and consider alternatives to minimize any negative effects you might be causing. This can be as simple as bringing your own reusable cup with you to work or as big as reconsidering your retirement investments. Our planet needs more than just a day or a month, it’s needs our everyday acknowledgement that our health and longevity is inextricably linked with that of the Earth.

Nestled on a side street is one of the town’s latest additions, Petal and Crumb Provisions. The bakery/flower shop offers small-batch goods made, grown, and raised in and around Dickson. Tapping into their farm-friendly, hyperlocal ethos, owners Kelsey and Kirby have hand-selected every item that you’ll find in the store. I recently spent an afternoon in Highland Park, a neighborhood just northeast of Los Angeles. My absolute favorite hair stylist @washedoutsalon works out of a funky neighborhood salon there called Bunny’s. After grabbing a matcha and the crispy hippie wrap from @itshighlylikely I took a stroll. These are some of the standouts for me which I highly recommend if you like books, vintage, local food, good coffee, and/or sustainable, locally made low waste goods!
