Benziger Family Winery is a third-generation, family-owned winery nestled in the rolling hills of Sonoma, California. Benziger offers a variety of wines, each made from grapes grown and thoughtfully tended in their vineyards. The family owns and operates four estate vineyards, each certified biodynamic and following organic farming methods; in fact, Benziger was the first winery in the region to become biodynamic-certified by the Demeter Federation.

Approaching grape growing from a holistic perspective, biodynamic methods benefit the wine and nature simultaneously.  Biodynamic growing methods include natural fertilizers, crop rotation, and consideration for the interconnectedness of nature, all of which benefit the soil. Healthy soils allow grape vines to thrive and produce wines that reflect the characteristics of the land on which the grapes are grown. As owner Chris Benziger puts it, “The biggest benefit of Biodynamic farming is that it is reparative. It replaces the biological capital.”
